Fluid retention is a common side-effect of a compromised lymphatic system. This course introduces you to what causes it, and suggests ways to treat it with effective skin care, exercise, compression, massage and Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD). Please note that this session does not include instruction on how to do MLD, though the use of compression bandaging and compression hosiery are both covered. There is also an overview of the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, its management in palliative care and the avoidance of common complications, such as cellulitis.
Who is this course for?
Health and social care professionals from all clinical settings who have direct contact with patients, clients and residents experiencing Lymphoedema.
